Join the Docent Corps

New Docent Class Begins Saturday, October 11

The registration deadline is August 1st

As a docent, you will be a key volunteer educator trained to present tours and programs to the public. You will share information about the Museum’s collection and special exhibitions with a wide range of audiences, both at the MFA and in the community. You will play a vital role in encouraging a lifelong love of art.
No previous knowledge of art or art history required. Docent apprentices participate in 12 training sessions that explore the collection, art history and strategies for reaching different age groups. Following successful completion of the class, apprentices become docent interns and are required to volunteer as a docent for at least tow years, beginning the fall of 2009. Docents continue their education through an ongoing training program held once a month. In addition, there are optional workshops, day trips, and other events for docents to expand their knowledge and friendships.

The registration deadline is AUGUST 1st. If you are interested in joining the docent corps, please contact Curator of Education Faith Rockenstein at 727-896-2667, ext. 218, or via e-mail click here.
